February 2026 - Yelling at Concrete - Mistakes made

Intro

Back in the saddle riding the…potato? I dunno it’s been an odd month. More and more the perpetual slide into a situation where i feel knock at the door will come and i’ll be told to ship out. But you know what challenge brings? Well for me it brings inspiration. Always has always will. Yes it’s a coping mechanism and yes i use it alot and yes i talk to a therapist about it so quiet you judgeridoos.

Right now i’m plowing forward with a couple ideas and trying to some to terms with something I wrote about recently in my Patereon which is outside of the Patron and occasional item I probably shouldn’t engage in commerce. The facts of it are just complexities with visas and taxes and what I can and can’t do without causing myself further overhead. But the bonus of that is is it’s giving me ideas on how to approach the year in creation considering it’s going to be a big non art year for me with normal job. Next year and year after too knowing my bloody luck.

Catch up

Right now i’m working on a few things. Things i hope to show of but whether my brother knows it or not the topic we discussed in the first episode of the year I’m taking on board. I’m trying to do more showing what I get up to and how i approach work in a formal and informal sense. I started doing some “fun” Art dad bits on insta and just aiming to give simple advice to help people make things, no idea if i’ll keep doing it. The ones I’ve done thus far were just thoughts I had whilst doing some recent painting items so perhaps they will be sporadic as can be.

Podcast

First of the year as always, Myself and my wiser sibling sat down to talk some of the realities of creating in the modern age and less about “top tips to get scene on tiktok” but more about authenticity in a creators profile and how having a level of curation in your space just showing of your general interests can really help with an audience wanting to invest in your work.

I then decided to ruin the vibe and talk about the mess at hand with grief as some of you know and as discussed in the episode a recent death in the family was a journey i was on and in many ways still am so I thought i’d work through some of that on camera and just free form my thought to see if it helped anyone else.

And then! I messed up the order of release so in Jan you got three and two of them were me! This time mainly sitting down to have a grumble about entitlement in the art scenes and how people demand their audience do things when in reality they owe you nothing and you’re job is to make something which breaks their cycle. I’d love to hear further thoughts on this especially from artists and audience as it’s always a battle and in reality I’m on neither side but just waxing on the topic.

AI cucks

Feel free to steal this image and do as you please with it. It’s gross it’s messy it’s a pun on sexual relationships and their relation to artistic practices but mainly I just found it funny. I drew a version of this years back to represent the political system but the more i started trolling AI creators on Threads the more i saw them as artistic cuckolds and quickly learnt they do not enjoy that comparison. So. Of course. I ran with it.

If you’re unaware as this is in no way kink shaming, you like what you like more power to you. This instead a statement on insecurity in people who confidently proclaim themselves creators and “better” or “revolutionary” despite being unwilling to see their weaknesses in their work.

A cuckold is a person who enjoys sexual gratification by seeing someone else with their partner. Often taking the role of a submissive and delineated situation where through consent they agree to be “humiliated” in a manner to arouse themselves. It often involves sitting and watching sexual acts by someone more “capable” than themselves. So if you track that metaphor you will understand why my new favorite phrase is AI cuck.

Art dad

Instagram Post

I may come to regret labelling myself the “illegitimate art dad” but who knows maybe it’s a thing for now I’m trying to have fun with it. And it’s a good way to get Casper working.

Inspiration

I wanted to take a moment this month and did over on insta to show of a couple things which inspired me. I found a book in a charity shop and that’s always fun, this one filled with Indian artists who did a show back in the day in NYC. It’s a great example of culture and imagery clash which is something I’ve been exploring more and seems more prevalent in my work than previously where I find myself including “britishisms” more so than ever before or at least noticing I am. The second I got to see two performers I’ve been wanting to see for a while along with one of my all time favourites again. I find their music very inspiring and one of the reason is the visual nature of their lyrics. So have included a few of my favourite tracks below!
