Round of if things from Jan
Oh January you are a fickle mistress. Bringing in the new and the old and neither of them working. As you will have seen we are living in tumultuous times. Which I don’t know about you really makes all things feel insignificant. But at the same time makes other things feel more significant?
I’ll explain as we go on but for now. A recap and below more treats!
Table of Contents
Podcast
Firs off this month we did the standard, we caught up with my brother and put the world to right in what can only be described as old men yells at internet and discuss the evolution of media and how we engage with it in a more meaningful way.
Next I took a moment on the floor and decided to talk about how self improvement can be done! How I’ve been learning through my own challenges and a better way navigate the over pressure of a year beginning.
Patreon
As mentioned before I’m trying before end of year to make enough via Patreon to fully fund the cast! so if you are interested it’s only a £1 a month and you’d be supporting a platform which I think helps give voices amplitude and balance discussion.
And as a special treat this month I’ll be uploading some coming designs there early before they are revealed to the public! Speaking of which!.
Anti-Exercise
It’s the new year which means a constant barrage of better yourself and slim down and punish yourself for enjoying life! Well ever since I went to a lululemon and felt like I’d wanted into a beige wet dream I wanted to make something retaliatory for this toxic positive style of body health and so I have! In the past month I’ve been working on three designs which I’ll be offering not just on t-shirts but on active wear to really emphasis how we truly feel about exercise. Which if you’re anything like me is indifferent and see it as evil but necessary even after years of doing it.
Today i’m leaking you some sneak snaps but if you’re on Patreon this week you’ll see the first design of the three!

This.

Pyramids.
And this is the sketch or the third!
Coke Oven.
Ok so the worlds falling to pieces. And In doing so it had reminded me of something I own! I own a website. One I’m actually pretty proud of. It’s something I built with help during the pandemic to find and catalogue Zines! Intended as a free resource I decided to check in on it and found it well…A Little lacking. It’s slow, some part are out of date and whilst it’s well intentioned I think it could be doing so much more. And in the current climate of media censorship I think it should!
So I’ve taken it offline for a moment, I’m going to rework the design and with any hope build it into something more useful. Something which can act as a hub for zines and creatives in a positive way! So bookmark it and follow the insta and hopefully we’ll be able to grow this idea a little more!
Which brings us to the final point of todays ted talk. Null Point. Null point for those not in the know is essentially a collaborative zine. It’s a zine which accepts submissions from the public on an open call basis and in doing so provides a platform of free expression. I ran it solo for years and then during my move I got some much needed and appreciated help. But in the past year or so it’s languished. Unable to find a decent US printer and my work load being so large I’ve been unable to do Zine events like I used to and in some ways I have disappointed myself.
However rather than dwell on that I’ve decided to open a fresh leaf for the idea. Dust of the suitcase and instead alter the approach and manifesto to keep the idea alive!
So more news on that later. However if you’re a fan of the idea there are a couple of things you can do for me today!
Give the instagram a follow and Share. As we come out of hiding we’ll be trying to hit the ground running to get submissions. And subscribe to the newsletter! Just another way to learn of the topic each month and anything Null Point related!
And we’re done.
Finally I just wanted to give a shout out to you all for subscribing and if you sub to the Patreon even more so! I do feel like i’ve had a bit of a re-spike in creating this Jan and am clutching to try and keep that running so hopefully have much more made and out soon!
