First off I must apologise because 1. I’m British and it’s how we start sentences and 2. This is a little late. It is a little late essentially as I’ve had my schedule thrown off by life. Which is some what inevitable and in this case quite sad. But at the same time I am quite used to sad and in the same sense quite used to inevitable.

The short answer is in OCT a family member of mine decided to take the exit. They didn’t have much choice, they were 90 and afflicted but as it was one of my favourite family members that has had quite the effect on me. I’m sure there will be some art or a podcast about it soon enough but for now I just wanted to say thanks for anyone close to me who has reached out and for those who are here for just the art I apologise for the break in programming/erratic posting in the remainder of the year.

Calendar

The first thing to call out though work wise is the Calendar! The pre-order link it live here for UK and US buyers and if you subscribe the Patreon there is a code for free shipping there! Reminder the Patreon is only £1 a month so you basically save on shipping by paying for shipping through a year if you stay subbed the whole year!

Moth Man

As mentioned previous the starts of this years show are the folk/horror/cryptid/mythical superior beings. But of course in usual calendar fashion they have all been taken into the lens of real life with real problems and or jobs. I’ll be sharing these images in insta through NOV and some of the creation process on Patreon but for the time being you can order a copy which will ship in DEC.

Podcast

This one seemed to hit a chord with a couple people. To be honest I was concerned it might be a bit “millennial grinds on younger folk” badly worded…. but I think I made my point that basically as a society we need to sometimes just let go of our airs and pride.

This however was an absolute pleasure to make and show off. Marty Gordon is an artist whom I became aware of through other artists and instantly I sense just how important it was to talk to him. We sad down to talk about the art world. His history in the clergy and how the embrace of enjoying the work you make is just as important as being able to show it off.

Trying some things.

Something I’ve been experimenting more with is adding some humour to things as I display them.

Alot of my work is heavy I get that and trying to get a audiences attention in that heavy space is hard. RIGHTLY SO I might add for all those whiney “why does no one look at my work, people are philistines, no one gets it” artists out there. When you pick a heavy topic and someone is living their life you’re basically asking them to stop their thought process, whatever they have going on in their life and absorb something they likely don’t want to absorb.

I also saw a great clip the other day on TIKTOK about how low effort posts do well in finding a space as they are more human. It’s why that clip of some person doing something mundane went viral instead of the sculpture you spend a month making. But as makers we like to make high quality things. And as people who grew up with the internet at least within my generation we group up in a time when high quality stuff was the ask! We were watching you tube looking for the people who made the short on a budget but it looked like a movie. The painter who could make the photo realistic image and gave us all the insight into it. But the way social media evolved advertisers took that method and that space and now people don’t trust the polished.

So what I was saying is whilst I am going through some stuff I think i’ll be making some time to maybe do more “me” posts and relax the chain on the content machine being as considered as it is at times. Yes sadly they might mean more selfies which is a whole other insecurity i’ve developed in the past years but cest la vie that’s what therapy is for!

Sorry for the ramble. Either way as always new work coming soon and the final episodes of the year as always will be solo and introspective.

Thanks again
