What even is a month? Interesting news for NY people and a penis in this mail.
Intro
October has arrived and i’m trying to figure out how. Like where did September go? I recall it being July and then suddenly October? I mean I wont complain it’s been cooler and less humid and I’ve found myself on occasion waking up chilly with the fan on so that’s something. But with that said it’s still 29 degrees in NY in late SEPTEMBER…madness.
Anyway…here’s wonder wall.

Catch up
Not too much to catch up on really the last letter was the big one and the next one may be too. For now there is just a couple things to know.
NOV will bring the pre-order for the calendar which I am working on actively.
Drawing a penis is a great way to get engagement online
Patreon is no where near my goal of 33 by end of year but is still very much active with new ‘treat’ content every couple weeks so if you’d like to support for just £1 or $1 a month you can here: https://www.patreon.com/c/yellingatconcrete
I have a super secret project I stealth released and wont be revealing till end of year if you haven’t found it already.
Podcast
Something I find continuously funny is my lack of understanding on what the audience wants from my solo casts and how to market them. This episode I thought had a good catchy title. Maybe raised some questions on the process of creation and would be engaging. The stats say other wise. Much like the episode before! Meanwhile other episodes where I think i didn’t really make a point or were smaller in the grand scheme of things get traction and create impact. The short is I should never work in advertising. But I hope you enjoyed the ride.
Next up was an episode I knew would engage with people. Gianna has a really interesting story and history and she wanted to talk art and the industry whilst also discussing her medical comics. Whether you know it or not I actually get quite a bit of engagement from those with long standing medical conditions. Something about my humour and style seems to connect with those suffering and I take great strength in that.
My calendar especially I’ve been told is great for those with long term afflictions as they are often forced into toxic positive spaces and in really they just want some to say “This sucks” and not sugar the reality of it all.
Partition - 2025
You never really know how your work will be interpreted. But this one got a reaction i didn’t expect…

Not this piece I’m still unsure of but I’m trying to do less of that and just release things. I actually made if for a open call for ART 14c which is a Gallery in New Jersey. They had the topic “Inspired by” where they wanted work in response to other work. Having been recently to see the MoMA and found the work of Jack Whitten I felt i had been inspired. Inspired by his techniques, ingenuity and just the visceral style of approach and wanted to bring some of that passion to my own work. So I made this in the space of a couple of days before the deadline and submitted it.
It didn’t get in. But I did make something and It was fun so what’s a guy to do but accept it, put it online and have people say it’s phallic. Male artist problems…
It’s actually one where I may try again. As it didn’t quite land how i wanted in terms of my vision but I was also trying to stay within the brief. So maybe you’ll see other Phallic items in my future. Consensually of course.
Work on show.
Something I did do this month though and did many to get my work into though is a mini exhibition! Greenpoint Gallery is a small indie gallery in Brooklyn who regularly do open calls as they host “salon” shows through the year. Up till this point I didn’t feel i had anything particularly suitable to hand as I left most of my painting in the UK but after my rampant spree of paint I finally responded to one of their events…and got in!
So on the 3rd of OCT I’ll be having a couple pieces in their show so if you’re in the NYC area feel free to come along and see some new art and get to see Colony Collapse in person!
Here’s hoping they find it interesting?
Next
I’ll be honest it’s been a bit of an odd month for me somewhat just keeping my head above water, knowing I have some things I need to do and making small headway but headway all the same. On OCT 6th you’ll get another release but for now I need to get my head down and focus on drawing this calendar to be ready for later in the year. So I shall see you on the other side and over on Patreon till then!
