The September round up of Yelling at Concrete

We made it to September! Madness I know. Who would have thought that buy the time eight months had passed we’d be all the way in September?

Now two things.

  • One. This might be a little light on what I can show you.

  • Two. Yes it’s a little late but August has been manic and in the US it’s Labour day weekend so I’m just embracing that tradition.

Podcast

Starting simple! podcast. As we close into the end of the year I often get the feeling of. Should I keep this going? Will I be able to find new guests? Who really wants to listen to be ramble about these things other than close friends? Fact is I don’t have an answer to any of that but what often happens is I start talking to some guests and remind myself of why I enjoy doing this!

It’s the conversations, the learning and the discussions.

First we start with a quick talk about putting time and effort into non serious conversation. Wasted energy on anger and discussions around favourites. Trying to re-align us all that it’s ok that we’re different.

Next I caught up with Emma! Emma is a local friend of mine who I met initially through streaming and then caught up with in person! Since then we’ve shared many a musical adventure and often discuss the industry as her role is in marketing for Sony Hall! A great venue in New York!

And then finally the important discussion at hand. AI art. This one was a little ranty but mainly I wanted to talk about misplaced money. We hear a lot about investment in AI art but as a concept that’s flawed. It’s investment in something you know will diminish but taking some time to invest in individual things and people? That’s priceless.

The Tease

If you haven’t seen I’ve been back drawing! So I posted a couple of teases and decided to attempt something legitimate. Luckily I also recently have been co-ordinating with a super talented future guest who needed a design so I got my pen out and tried to prove to myself I could draw once more. The Calendar

Ok it’s time. As you know I lost a month or more of drawing and in doing so got rather worried I’d not be able to draw again. What it also meant was I needed to make a decision. What you may or may not know is that to make the calendar I have to start drawing it basically in July/August and complete all the illustration and design by OCT as people stop buying calendars in DEC and I need them in place and printing in NOV. This my friends is called producing yourself.

In Jan I took ideas for a mythical calendar full of folk lore creatures and legends but I’m…going to have to not do that idea. I got one of the 12 done but I want to dedicate some real time and effort to it to give them the appreciation they deserve and that I'd be happy with. I can’t do that in the time frame.

But what does that mean? No Calendar? Well we’re not quite done yet. I have an idea which If I can make progress on it through Sept then for 2025! we’ll have a calendar! So more on that to come. But for now all hope is not lost.

End.

So that’s it! as I say a light month but Sept could be a spicy one so keep and eye out and as always thank you for your support!
